Software Architected for the Smart Grid
The energy sector is rapidly digitizing. We engineer highly secure SCADA integrations, massive IoT data pipelines, and modern customer portals that allow utilities and renewable providers to operate the grid of the future.
The Data-Driven Energy Transition
The traditional one-way power grid is dead. Today’s grid is a complex, decentralized network of solar farms, EV chargers, battery storage, and millions of smart meters. Managing this requires software capable of processing astronomical amounts of telemetry in real-time. We engineer the big data pipelines and predictive analytics dashboards that give energy operators total visibility, while also building sleek, modern web portals that allow consumers to easily manage their usage.
Digital Transformation Trends
- The explosion of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) generating massive volumes of 15-minute interval data.
- The rise of DERs (Distributed Energy Resources) requiring complex software to aggregate home solar and batteries into 'Virtual Power Plants'.
- Predictive Maintenance: Using drone imagery and AI to inspect hundreds of miles of transmission lines for wildfire risks.
Market Opportunities
- Drastically reducing peak load costs by implementing automated, software-driven Demand Response programs.
- Increasing customer satisfaction and reducing call center volume through highly transparent, mobile-friendly billing portals.
- Preventing catastrophic equipment failure (and associated liabilities) through AI-driven predictive maintenance on transformers.
Technical Hurdles in Utilities
The software bottlenecks holding your enterprise back from scaling.
Massive Data Ingestion
Legacy databases completely crashing when trying to ingest and store billions of data points generated by smart meters daily.
Critical Infrastructure Security
Grid software is a prime target for nation-state cyberattacks; a vulnerability can lead to catastrophic physical consequences.
Archaic Customer Systems
Monolithic CIS (Customer Information Systems) that make it impossible to offer modern digital billing or usage analytics to consumers.
Our Energy Tech Engineering Solutions
We build highly secure, highly scalable software designed for critical infrastructure.
Smart Meter (AMI) Data Pipelines
Cloud-native architectures utilizing TimescaleDB or InfluxDB to securely ingest, store, and query billions of time-series data points.
Customer Experience Portals
Modern, highly accessible web applications that allow utility customers to view usage graphs, pay bills, and enroll in solar programs.
Renewable Asset Management
Custom IoT dashboards that aggregate telemetry (inverters, weather data) from distributed solar and wind farms into a single pane of glass.
Drone/AI Grid Inspection
Computer vision pipelines that automatically analyze drone footage of power lines to detect encroaching vegetation or failing insulators.
Utility-Grade Capabilities

Time-Series Databases
Expertise in specialized databases (Timescale, Influx) required to run lightning-fast analytical queries on massive meter data.
SCADA/IoT Integrations
Building secure API bridges to translate legacy industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3) into modern cloud-native telemetry.
Geospatial (GIS) Mapping
Integrating with Esri ArcGIS or Mapbox to visualize grid outages, asset locations, and drone flight paths interactively.
The ROI of Grid Digitization
Modernizing utility software reduces risk, lowers operational costs, and empowers the consumer.
Reduced Operational Costs
Self-service digital portals drastically reduce the volume of expensive customer support calls regarding billing inquiries.
Proactive Maintenance
AI analysis of drone imagery and IoT telemetry identifies failing hardware before it causes an expensive outage or fire.
Rapid Innovation
Decoupling the frontend from the legacy CIS allows the utility to rapidly launch new EV or solar programs to the public.

Customer Usage Portal for a Regional Electric Utility
The Challenge
A mid-sized utility company deployed 500,000 smart meters but had no way to show customers their data. Their legacy CIS system crashed when they tried to build a portal on top of it.
The Solution
We architected an API decoupling layer. We routed the AMI meter data into a highly optimized TimescaleDB data lake. We then built a lightning-fast Next.js web portal that queried this new database, completely bypassing the fragile legacy system.
Business Result
Customers could now log in and view interactive charts of their hourly energy usage with zero lag. The utility saw a 40% reduction in billing-related support calls, and the legacy CIS remained completely stable.
